There’s always something new to discover at Butterfly Pavilion! Join Butterfly Pavilion’s interpretive specialists to learn more about the amazing plants and animals at the zoo. Daily programs can include feeding demonstrations, animal encounters, guided tours, and interactive presentations.

Active Programs:

Butterfly Encounter

Location: Wings of the Tropics
Times: Daily, 12:30 pm and 3:30 pm
Watch as newly emerged butterflies fly for the very first time and discover more about butterflies, rainforests, at Butterfly Pavilion!

 

Storytime

Location: Hairstreak Haven Campground in Colorado Backyard
Times: Daily, 10:30 am and 2:30 pm
Even our youngest guests will learn and experience invertebrates in the most fun way — stories! Butterfly Pavilion educators will engage you in a series of classic favorites, all about invertebrates!

 

What Animal Is This?

Location: Hairstreak Haven Campground in Colorado Backyard
Times: Daily, 1:30 pm
Can you tell the difference between a vertebrate and an invertebrate? Test your knowledge with Butterfly Pavilion's new game "What Animal is This?".

Seasonal Programs:

Great Sunflower Project

Location: Butterfly Pavilion Gardens
Times: Various, August through October, please consult the schedule on the day of your visit.
Guests will learn about invertebrate diversity and building habitats during a guided tour of our outdoor gardens while participating in some community science. We will focus on sunflowers and their invertebrate visitors as a means of measuring the health of our garden habitat.

 

Monarch Watch

Location: Butterfly Pavilion Gardens
Times: Various, September through October, please consult the schedule on the day of your visit.
Guests will be led through our gardens as we try and catch and tag monarch butterflies as a means of tracking their movements across North America. They’ll learn about the perils these animals face and how being a part of community science programs like this works towards helping protect them.

 

Garden Tours

Location: Butterfly Pavilion Gardens
Times: Various April through October, please consult the schedule on the day of your visit.
Guests will learn about habitats and conserving invertebrates in their own backyard during this walking guided tour of our outdoor gardens.
