2021 Summer Camps at Butterfly Pavilion

Explore the world of invertebrates this summer with Butterfly Pavilion in a series of hands on summer camp programs that your kids ages 5-12 will love!

6/1 - Single Day Camp: Great Coral Reefs: Is the Great Barrier Reef the same as the Florida Reef Tract? Do the same animals call the different reefs home? Dive in with us as we discover what animals inhabit these incredible reefs.

6/2 - Single Day Camp: Voracious Predators: Dragonflies, spiders and sea stars, who is the top predator of this bug - eat - bug world? Come join us for a day for the different ways these bugs survive in order to thrive.

6/3 - Single Day Camp: Bug Beauty Pageant: Do you think spiders are cute? What about a praying mantis? Can moths be prettier than butterflies? Come in for a fun-filled day where you will be surprised by the bugs that you used to think were scary, can actually be very beautiful.

6/4 - Single Day Camp: Are You Stronger Than a Bug?: Can you lift 10 times your bodyweight? What about 100? What bug would most likely win in a strength contest? Come join us in learning about the amazing bugs that are stronger than they look!

6/7-6/11 Week 1: Zookeeper in Training: Do you like animals? Have you ever wondered how to take care of a tarantula? What about an octopus? Join us for a fun journey all about what it means to be a zookeeper and help take care of our animals for the week!

6/14-6/18 Week 2: Kid vs Wild: Do you know how to use a map and compass? What about a first aid kit? Learn with us as we discover ways to explore nature and survive the great outdoors with or without these tools!

6/21-6/25 Week 3: Mythology: Have you ever heard the story of how the moon was put in the sky by a spider? Or how the Milky Way was created by a beetle? Join us as we learn about the different myths and folklore of various cultures found all around the world!

6/28-7/1 Week 4: Aquatic Adventures: Have you ever wondered why water is important for living things? What about if the animals that live in freshwater are the same as the ones that live in saltwater? Come join us for a water themed week that will end with a splash!

7/5-7/9 Week 5: Fact or Fiction: Is The Lorax based on true facts? What about Octonauts or books by Eric Carle? Dive in with us as we discover what is fact or fiction in some of our favorite books, shows and games!

7/12-7/16 Week 6 (same as Week 1): Zookeeper in Training: Do you like animals? Have you ever wondered how to take care of a tarantula? What about an octopus? Join us for a fun journey all about what it means to be a zookeeper and help take care of our animals for the week!

Please note: Payment is due at the time of registration. Scholarships are available for up to 50% of camp cost for qualifying students. If you are applying for a scholarship, you must fill out the scholarship application form.

  • Full Day 9am-4pm: Non-member: $60, member $50
  • Half Day: 9am-12pm: Non-member $36, member $30
  • Full Week Full Day 9am-4pm: Non-member: $265, member $240
  • Full Week Half Day: 9am-12pm: Non-member: $155, member $135

Extended Care Options

  • Early Drop Off (8 am - 8:45 am): $10

Butterfly Pavilion camps are designed to provide memorable experiences that connect kids ages 5-12 to nature and encourage an appreciation for science. Space is limited and pre-registration is required.

Butterfly Pavilion Amended Cancellation/Closure Policy

Due to COVID-19, Butterfly Pavilion has updated its standard cancellation policy to include:

Butterfly Pavilion Cancellation: If we need to cancel a camp prior to the start of a camp, families will receive a 100% refund. This includes any instances under which a COVID-19 related change in local, state, or federal regulations makes it impossible for Butterfly Pavilion to deliver camp. In the event that Butterfly Pavilion has to cancel a portion of a camp that has already started in accordance with Jefferson County Public Health guidelines due to a camper of staff member’s suspected or actual COVID-19 illness, families will receive a 100% credit for the unused portion of the camp to be used through Summer 2021 or a 50% refund.

COVID-19 Health Cancellation: If a camper is diagnosed with COVID-19, has been exposed to someone with COVID-19, is awaiting results of testing, or has any symptoms as defined within current Jefferson County Public Health guidelines pertaining to COVID-19 for day care centers or camps that require the camper not attend camp, families will receive a 100% credit for the unused portion of the camp to be used through Summer 2021 or a 50% refund.

In all other instances, Butterfly Pavilion’s standard cancellation policy remains in effect:

  • Cancellations with at least 10 business days’ notice will be charged a 10% processing fee, and remainder of cost will be refunded to customer.
  • All cancellations and transfers must be made via e-mail to the Camp Director at least 10 business days before the date of the camp and will be charged a 10% processing fee, with the remainder of the cost refunded to the customer.
  • Transfers may only be made into camps that still have availability.
  • No refund is given for cancellation with less than 5 business days’ notice. This includes absence due to illness.
  • A full refund will be given to the customer if the Butterfly Pavilion cancels a camp for any reason.
