Homeschool Field Trip

Homeschoolers and families, take a field trip together at Butterfly Pavilion! Take advantage of these exciting opportunities to explore our engaging exhibits and interact with thousands of invertebrates, all without the crowds!

Upcoming Homeschool Days:

Field trips include:

  • Self-guided exploration of indoor and outdoor exhibits
  • The option to deepen learning by adding a 45-minute facilitated class with a Butterfly Pavilion educator
  • An exhibit rotation guide to help chaperone groups disperse throughout the facility

To qualify for our group rates (see below), your group visit must meet the following criteria:

1. At least one chaperone for every ten children.

2. Payment for the entire group with one payment. We accept cash and all major credit cards.

3. Request must be received and confirmed in advance of visit, at least 72 hour notice. 2 weeks notice for classes.

Offered: Year round, M-F, 9am-4:15pm

Ages/Grades: PreK-12

Class Times: 9:30, 10:30, 11:30, 12:30; must arrive at least 15 minutes before class time

Fee: $6/student* plus $25 for the group to add a facilitated class

1 adult admitted free for every 5 students (additional adults $12/person)

Group size: For Homeschool Groups there is no minimum size. Must maintain 1 teacher per 10 student ratio.

Daily Programs & Showtimes

There’s always something new to discover at Butterfly Pavilion! Join Butterfly Pavilion’s interpretive specialists to learn more about the amazing plants and animals at the zoo. Daily programs can include feeding demonstrations, animal encounters, guided tours, and interactive presentations.

Butterflies at Chatfield

This seasonal habitat at Denver Botanic Gardens Chatfield Farms is home to hundreds of native Colorado butterflies such as swallowtails, monarchs, mourning cloaks and painted ladies. Butterflies at Chatfield is a partnership between Denver Botanic Gardens and Butterfly Pavilion.

Beekeeping Bootcamp

At Butterfly Pavilion
Typically held on Saturdays. Work alongside Butterfly Pavilion beekeeping experts and other beginner beekeepers, developing the skills necessary to achieve thriving beehives. Beekeeping Bootcamp is qualified through the Colorado State Beekeeping Association (CSBA)!
