When the sun goes down, the adventure begins. Whether you’re planning a unique date night, a fun outing with friends, or a solo mission of curiosity, Flashlight Tours invite you to explore Butterfly Pavilion like never before — in the dark. 

Join our expert guides for a one-of-a-kind, after-hours experience that weaves together storytelling, real science, and live animals. Each room contains a mystery. Equipped with your flashlight and a case file, you’ll work as a team to uncover the heroes, the threats they face, and the role you can play in helping invertebrates survive in a rapidly changing world. 


Tour Dates and Times
Each tour lasts approximately 45–60 minutes. Entry times are staggered. Please arrive 10 minutes early.

Survival in the Shadows
A desert-dwelling arachnid leaves behind a chaotic childhood to forge a life of independence — until something begins to stalk her in the night.

A Change in the Current
Within our Water’s Edge exhibit, something is wrong beneath the surface. Corals are changing, and a once-bright home becomes a threat.

The Vanishing Canopy
In our Wings of the Tropics rainforest conservatory, a butterfly’s world is being torn apart. Can you uncover the cause before it disappears entirely?

Each of the creatures you meet has a story — of survival, adaptation, and value. They may be small, but their impact is enormous. Flashlight Tours offer a powerful reminder that even the tiniest animals help hold the planet together.
