Across Colorado there’s a chill in the air, goblins and ghouls are ready to scare. Join us this October for Bug-A-Boo! 

Join us for a spook-tacular trick-or-treating experience at Butterfly Pavilion’s annual Halloween extravaganza! Bug-A-Boo has become a cherished Halloween tradition at Butterfly Pavilion. Each year, families from across Colorado gather to enjoy this safe, stress-free event filled with fun and excitement—where it’s all treats and no tricks! Children of all ages are invited to visit in costume during the last two weekends of October and experience the magic of the invertebrate world as they visit candy and toy stations throughout the zoo.

From toddlers to teenagers, there’s something for everyone at Butterfly Pavilion. Parents can also experience the captivating world of invertebrates while kids roam freely through butterfly, arachnid, and aquatic exhibits. Butterfly Pavilion offers a manageable Halloween adventure with just the right amount of spookiness.  

But this isn’t just about Trick-or-Treating — it’s a chance to blend Halloween fun with an educational twist, where your family can discover fascinating spiders and their ecological and cultural significance along the way. Make memories, learn something new, and experience Halloween like never before at Bug-A-Boo! 

 

Bug-A-Boo Dates (Experience included with general admission) 

Saturday, October 26: 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Sunday, October 27: 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Thursday, October 31: 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. 

Costume Contest: 

Show off your creativity and Halloween spirit by joining our exciting Bug-A-Boo Costume Contest! Visit Butterfly Pavilion on the last two weekends of October. Here’s how to participate:  

  • Snap a photo in your costume by the Spider Wall near the Butterfly Pavilion entrance. 
  • Submit your entry by filling out this form. 
  • Wear a costume that allows for safe movement through the exhibits and one that is appropriate for young families. 
  • Wait for the Butterfly Pavilion’s Green Team to judge the submissions, based on sustainability, creativity, originality, and celebrating invertebrates. 
  • Win thrilling prizes and be part of the fun! 

The three costume categories include: 

“Greenest” – The costume that makes the most innovative use of reused, recycled, compostable or renewable materials.  

“Best Invertebrate” – The costume that best represents and educates about any animal without a backbone. 

“Most Original” – The costume that is unique in imagination and/or construction – the one that makes us laugh, appreciate, or gasp in surprise!  

Guests can participate in the contest and submit their costumes during Bug-A-Boo on October 19, 20, 26, and 27! Winners will be notified via email and celebrated in the Butterfly Pavilion newsletter!
