Adult and Senior Outreach Programs

Part of a garden club? Assisted living community? Church group? Butterfly Pavilion classes can come to you.

Let us bring a fun and interactive program to your active adults group or senior community! Our engaging presentations feature live and preserved animals, images, nature facts, and a question and answer session.

Cost: $75 program fee + $0.55/mile for travel from Butterfly Pavilion

Choose from one of the classes to wow your group with an intriguing and interactive presentation, catered just to their needs!

Beautiful Butterflies*

Discover a rainbow of color as you explore tropical butterfly specimen from around the work, learn about their behaviors and life cycles.  *Does not include live animals, only preserved specimen. 

Butterfly Gardening*

Learn what it takes to attract local butterflies to your garden. We’ll teach you the skills necessary to create a garden space that will brighten your community. *Does not include live animals, only preserved specimen. 

Bringing Butterfly Pavilion to You

Can’t make it to BP? Let us come to you with live invertebrates from around the world!  We’ll take you on a virtual adventure to explore our incredible residents—insects, spiders and more.  Your group can even hold Rosie the tarantula! 

Insect Lore

Did Grandmother Spider carry the sun on her back?  Do butterflies bring good luck? Enjoy stories from cultures around the world featuring butterflies, beetles, dragonflies and spiders, and meet the live animals that tell the tale.  Have a story of your own? We’d love to hear it! 

Spooky Spiders

Open your minds and discover why these creepy crawlies aren’t actually as creepy as you might think! Meet live spiders – a black widow and a Chilean Rose Hair tarantula (our famous Rosie!).

*Outreach programs require the use of a projector or big screen TV for our educator to display the interactive presentation.

There’s always something new to discover at Butterfly Pavilion! Join Butterfly Pavilion’s interpretive specialists to learn more about the amazing plants and animals at the zoo. Daily programs can include feeding demonstrations, animal encounters, guided tours, and interactive presentations.

Butterflies at Chatfield

This seasonal habitat at Denver Botanic Gardens Chatfield Farms is home to hundreds of native Colorado butterflies such as swallowtails, monarchs, mourning cloaks and painted ladies. Butterflies at Chatfield is a partnership between Denver Botanic Gardens and Butterfly Pavilion.
