Discover why some of nature’s strangest creatures are also its most incredible. Get up close with fascinating marine invertebrates, including moon jellies, giant isopods, and at the heart of it all, a Giant Pacific Octopus!
The Giant Pacific Octopus has three hearts, blue blood, nine brains, and is one of the most intelligent animals coming to Butterfly Pavilion. Step into a world where “weird” means wonderfully wild.

The reimagined Water’s Edge, Exploring the Depths of Ocean Life, expands the gallery to 1,100 square feet and triples Butterfly Pavilion’s saltwater capacity to more than 3,000 gallons. The refreshed exhibit will feature 12 habitats, including 8 brand-new exhibits, and introduce guests to more than 100 different species represented by hundreds of individual invertebrates — from sea stars and anemones to a mantis shrimp with one of the fastest strikes in the animal kingdom.
Living Tidepool
