Hours of Operation

Butterfly Pavilion is open daily from 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. with timed entry. Last admission is at 4:15 p.m.

  • Closed: Thanksgiving Day and December 25 (Christmas Day)
  • December 24 (Christmas Eve): Last entry 12:15 p.m., closes 1:00 p.m.
  • December 31 (New Year’s Eve): Last entry 2:15 p.m., closes 3:00 p.m.
  • January 1 (New Year’s Day): Opens at 11:00 a.m.

School field trips take place 9:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m. For a quieter visit, we recommend arriving after 1:00 p.m. or choosing a date with lighter field trip attendance. Check the Field Trip Capacity Calendar HERE.

Butterfly Pavilion recommends reserving your ticket online in advance. Online reservations provide information on the capacity remaining when you choose to visit as well as secures your spot.

Admission tickets will be sold for hourly entry windows beginning at the top of each hour. Guests can arrive any time during the hour of their reserved tickets. No matter when you come in, re-entry is allowed until exhibits close at 5 p.m. You can reschedule by calling 720-531-9364.

Community Admission Discounts

Butterfly Pavilion participates in several community programs that provide free or reduced admission for qualifying guests. Free Passes: Guests may use free passes for General Admission by redeeming them in person at the front desk. Free passes may not be redeemed past their listed expiration date.

Museums for All (SNAP / EBT)

Guests with a SNAP or EBT card receive $5 admission for adults, seniors, and children (up to four tickets per card).

Westminster Resident Discount

Residents of Westminster receive reduced admission with proof of address. Please bring a valid form of ID with your Westminster address listed on it.

Military Discount

Active duty military and veterans receive $2 off adult admission with valid ID. Personnel must present their military/veteran ID to the front desk upon arrival

Library Pass Program

Participating library districts offer free or discounted admission passes. Patrons must reserve these passes through their local library for use at Butterfly Pavilion.

Five by Five Program

Eligible students receive admission along with family member access through the program. The student must check in via QR code at the front desk and present the green “OK” screen to redeem their tickets.

Growing Scientist Program

Cardholders receive free admission for up to 10 guests. These tickets can only be accessed in person by presenting the Growing Scientist card to the front desk.

Save More with a Membership

A membership pays for itself in just two visits! Enjoy unlimited free admission all year long, plus exclusive member perks including discounts on programs, events, birthday parties, and gift shop purchases.

Members also receive early access to special exhibitions, invitations to member-only events, and reciprocal admission to partner institutions through the AZA reciprocal program.

Individual memberships start at just $65 per year. Family memberships provide admission for two adults and all children in the household.

Refunds & Exchanges

  • Guests may request a one-time reschedule prior to their scheduled date and time, up to 30 days from the original visit date, subject to availability.
  • Rescheduled visits may be moved to a date of equal or greater value. Additional charges may apply.
  • Refunds will not be issued for missed visits, weather conditions, scheduling conflicts, dissatisfaction, traffic delays, or unused tickets.
  • If Butterfly Pavilion must cancel operations for any reason, guests will be offered the option to reschedule.”
