The Butterfly Pavilion was the nation's first stand-alone non-profit insect zoo. In its exhibits visitors see and interact with live invertebrates from around the globe.


The Butterfly Pavilion is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The last entrance is at 4:15 p.m.

We are open seven days a week!
We are only closed on Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day.

Hwy 36 is a great way to get to the Butterfly Pavilion. It's easy, convenient and easily accessible. Just travel west on Hwy 36 and exit north on 104th Avenue. We are located on the corner of 104th Avenue and Westminster Blvd. Our parking lot entrance in located off Westminster Blvd.

  • If traveling from the south, take I-25 north to Hwy 36 west, exit 104th Avenue north and take a right at Westminster Blvd.
  • If traveling from the north, take I-25 south to 104th Avenue exit west, and take a left at Westminster Blvd.
  • If traveling from the west, take Hwy 36 east and exit 104th Avenue north (left) to Westminster Blvd, turn right.
  • If traveling from the east, you can take 104th or Hwy 36 West.
Parking

FREE parking is available in the museum's parking lot, located on the south side of the facility. Entrance to the parking lot is located off Westminster Blvd.

  • Make sure to avoid busy school times. Peak school group visits occur Monday through Friday, 10 am to 1:30 pm during September to May.
  • Bring a sack lunch or purchase a sandwich at the Butterfly Pavilion and extend your visit.
  • Plan to walk the nature trail.

If it creeps, crawls, slithers, flies, wiggles or squirms, chances are you'll find it here. Come for the butterflies, then stay for the spiders, scorpions, millipedes, centipedes, horseshoe crabs, sea stars, and walking sticks. Love to learn? We also offer youth education programming, volunteer opportunities and lifelong learning. Only 15 minutes from downtown Denver. Butterflies are just the beginning.
